Our last week in Croatia we spent in Makarska. So beautiful and the mountains in the background were just magic! Looked just like a postcard. However the beach were so crowded you just couldn't fit.. Seriously, there were like 1 dm between all the beach towels, on the whole beach! And if you weren't there before 8.30 in the morning all the spots were taken. Same thing by the pool at our hotel, Meteor. The hotel was great, and the pool too. The only negative thing was that we hade to have an alarm in the morning to get up early and get sunbeds. Otherwise everything was really good, the buffé (breakfast and dinner), the pool, the beach walk...
One day in Croatia we took a boat to the other island, Hvar, and spent the day there. We started with a guided tour around downtown, had some lunch and then walked around by ourselves before the boat took us back to Bol. It's cool to visit Hvar, but I'm happy we stayed in Bol. Bol is a much calmer town, more "cosy" with beaches, little hotels, the marina and a nice beach walk with little shops. Hvar is more jetset, fancy with all the big yachts, not so many nice beaches (that we could find anyway). Like I said, it's nice to visit, but I'd rather stay in Bol again if I had to choose.
Our first day in Croatia was very short, and super long.. The airplane took of from Stockholm at 5 pm and we landed around 7 pm. After that there was a bus ride for 1 hour, 2 hours of free time in Split, 1 hour at (the wrong!) ferry, and then another hour at a bus. Finally at 2 pm we could check in at our hotel. Straight to bed!
The morning after we woke up to a beautiful day in Bol, Brac. Most days we spent at the beach or by the pool. We stayed at a small family hotel called Villa Dzamonja. A really nice room overlooking the pool area and the ocean. Breakfast and dinner was included, breakfast was ok, but the dinner was great!
We spent one day at the beach Zlatni Rat. If you're staying in Bol I would really recommend going to this beach, it's a little touristy, but it's still really beautiful and it's much bigger than all the other beaches around. (remember to bring swim shoes!)
Another day me and a friend went paddleboarding in the morning (do it in the morning, it gets too windy in the afternoon). Super cheap! 200 kuna (27 euros) for 2 persons/2 hours. Could have spent hours out there on the water..
